What are the differences between the divisions / formats / series?

The NEXL (New England Xball League) is 2 day tournament series. There are many "divisions" for teams to play in, across several "formats". Division means skill level & format means type of play.

The Formats are: 3 Man, 5 Man RaceTo , Pump & XBall

The Divisions within the Formats are: 3 Man Beginner (ages 10-15 only) & 3 Man Rookie D5, 3 Man Open Pump, 5 Man D4 and XBall NEXL D2 & D4

How do I register my team?

First you will need to have every player register as a player in through the APPA System. Then the team captain will need to create a team profile through the same system and then add the ID# issued to every player to create a team roster.  Entrance fee will also need to be paid through the APPA in order to finalize registration.  Teams are NOT guaranteed entrance if payment is not submitted in time or spots fill up.

Can I register the day of?

All entrance fees must be paid by that events registration deadlines (generally 3 days prior to events).  Your team is not considered registered until the entrance fee is PAID. You may pay the entrance fee through the APPA System once you have created a team profile.

Is entrance for one event or for all 5 events?

Event to Event Entrance Fees are per event, per team.

Franchise Fees are for the entire season (all 5 events) per team.

Do I HAVE to have an NEXL ID?

YES. Any player that plans to play in ANY event needs to have an NEXL ID card. ID Cards cost $35 per player (3 Man Rookie & 5 Man RaceTo) and $50 for NEXL ID Cards (honored at PSP and vice versa) when completed online in advance of event. We use ID Cards to track players through their career so we can prevent players with too much experience from playing in divisions lower than they should be. We also use ID cards at each event to prevent non-rostered players from playing.  ALL Players need an ID card to play in any of the series.  You may sign up for your ID card through the APPA System. Please follow the instructions provided on the site to register as both a player - and as a team (Team captain should handle TEAM registration) Temporary ID's can be issued for each event but will cost $20 each per event and are only good for THAT particular event. Players who have an ID card for an NEXL team may play in the 5 man / 3 man rookie - ALL Players on these teams will need to have an ID card. All players will need to upload a photo to complete ID card registration (see APPA Site) ID Cards are good for certain discounts through the NEXL and will replace a waiver at any Boston Paintball facility.

How long does the event last, when should we arrive, where do we park, where do we stage.... etc.?

An event email will be sent to all registered teams at least the day before your event - and that email will contain all important event details.  Due to things such as daylight savings and the number of teams playing, some details may change from event to event - so always look for an email the day before you are registered to play.  If it is possible to send information sooner, it will be.

What kind of paint do we use, can we bring our own, how/when/where can we pay for it?

All NEXL events are Tournament Paint ONLY. You CANNOT bring your own paint. Paint rates will vary for different grades and paint is available on a first come first serve basis. Franchised Teams will have a Franchised Team rate on paint, and Event to Event teams will have an Event to Event rate on paint.  Paint may only be paid for in CASH the day of the event.

Is my gun legal, can i have a clear hopper, how long are games, what is bounce?

All of these answers are in the Rule Book. Every player should read the rule book as well prior to playing in any event. This will answer any questions regarding game structure, equipment, clothing etc

Can we film, photo, watch games out ON the fields?

The only people allowed to film / take photos out on the fields are the Official NEXL Event Media staff. Spectators will only be allowed on the outside of the nets where goggles are not necessary (this includes your team staff).  Please keep in mind that spectators are not allowed to interfere with the game in any manner while it is in progress. Yelling, pointing, bird-dogging or any other type of signaling WILL result in a penalty for your team.
